Did You Know?
Perinatal loss is defined as the nonvoluntary end of pregnancy from conception, during pregnancy, and up to 28 days of the newborns life. It includes miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth and other medical conditions of the baby or mother.
1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss.
Approximately 26,000 stillbirths (loss after 20 weeks gestation) occur in the USA annually.
Two-thirds of stillborn babies are diagnosed as having died for undetermined or unknown
reasons.
Perinatal loss can happen to any woman, even if she does everything right during pregnancy.
